[H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa](https://mohammadalissa.com) , Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, launched the Muslim World League’s initiative to promote social peace in West Africa in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, through its international conference, “Diversity and Social Peace: A Partnership for a Promising Future.”

The conference witnessed unanimous agreement among religious leaders representing all religions and sects across the region on the “Abuja Declaration,” which included the adoption of a joint action plan among government institutions, alongside the solidarity of Muslim and Christian religious leaders and civil society organizations.

The Declaration also approved the expansion of academic, training, and media programs related to the Charter of Makkah to address challenges to peace, coexistence, and social stability, particularly the strengthening of partnerships in the areas of conflict prevention and the protection of national fabric in all its religious and ethnic diversity.

It further established a coordinating body for religious and civic leaders and institutions in West Africa to follow up on the implementation of the action plan commitments and coordinate the programs and initiatives arising from it, ensuring their effective implementation, the achievement of their objectives, and accurate periodic evaluation.

Notably, the initiative is built on pillars that address the root causes of intellectual and social problems, manifested in extremist ideologies, while ensuring commitment, partnership, and sustainability through binding agreements among all relevant parties.
