 The Muslim World League Condemns Colombian Government’s Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty over the Occupied Syrian Golan Heights

The Muslim World League (MWL) has strongly condemned the Government of the Republic of Colombia’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In a statement issued by the MWL General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, denounced this recognition as a violation of international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared Israel’s imposition of its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights null and void and without international legal effect. His Excellency reaffirmed that the Golan Heights are occupied Syrian Arab territory and that any measures or decisions to the contrary are null and void, rejected, and condemned, and undermine efforts to achieve peace in the region.
