This work reflects the significant responsibility and duty the MWL bears as a religious authority for Muslim communities.

This work focuses on the principles of the Charter of Makkah, signed by more than 1,200 muftis and scholars from various Islamic schools of thought and sects, Muslim countries, and countries with Muslim minorities. They signed it on the sacred ground of Makkah, near the Holy Kaaba—their shared qiblah—and it is the most prominent charter endorsed by the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for use in their religious, educational, and cultural institutions.

The Charter has also received official praise at numerous international governmental and nongovernmental forums as a charter of civilizational significance that embodies the values of Islam through the consensus of its scholars. It represents the true thought and approach of two billion Muslims on major contemporary issues, in light of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
