Today, His Excellency Mr. MackySall, the President of the Republic of Senegal, visited the Muslim World League Office in Riyadh. The President and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars.
The meeting garnered high praise for the historic #MakkahCharter, a source of Islamic pride, which, 'with the endorsement of the scholars of the Ummah,' consolidated the meanings of Islamic fraternity. This achievement came under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 'may Allah protect him.'
The President of Senegal also praised the pivotal and pioneering role of the Muslim World League in presenting the true message of Islam, especially in confronting ideas of extremism, and in correcting illusions and misconceptions about Islam around the world.
On behalf of the Supreme Commission for the Makkah Charter, Dr. Al-Issa presented to the Senegalese President, the award of 'the Iconic Figure' of the #MakkahCharter, in the category of senior leaders. This was in response to His Excellency’s effective and inspiring efforts in serving Islam, in accordance with the purposes and objectives of the Charter. He is the first head of state to receive the icon of the Charter, which was inspired by the palm tree emblem. The Palm tree exemplifies the 'benevolence' illustrated in the Charter, which the Holy Quran mentioned as an analogy to the benevolent tree, 'the palm tree.’
After that, on behalf of the Supreme Commission for the Makkah Charter, Dr. Al-Issa hosted a dinner to commemorate the visit of the President of Senegal.
