The Muslim World League regrets the UN Security Council's failure to adopt a draft resolution that would grant full membership to the State of Palestine in the United Nations

Statement

Makkah:
The Muslim World League regrets the UN Security Council's failure to adopt a draft resolution that would grant full membership to the State of Palestine in the United Nations.

In a statement by the General Secretariat, the MWL stressed that obstructing Palestine's admission as a full member exacerbates the suffering of its oppressed people, encourages the occupation's intransigence to continue violating international law unchecked, and represents a significant obstacle to the pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace that all parties seek.

The MWL reiterated its demand for the international community to assume its responsibilities by stopping the Israeli occupation's attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, supporting the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, and establishing their state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
