As the “Guest of Honor” at this year’s UNHCR event—held in conjunction with the High-level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and attended by the High Commissioner:
H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa , Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, delivered an address at the opening session. He highlighted the significance of charitable work in Islam, outlining its distinctive features and legislative merits, and emphasized the importance of well-governed institutional charitable action.
H.E. also outlined the League’s efforts to support and advance charitable work, with a particular focus on governance and coordination through direct cooperation with the relevant government authorities in each country.
He commended the League’s cooperation with UNHCR in this regard, as well as its broader engagement with relevant United Nations organizations.
