In a first-of-its-kind meeting with a religious leader:

H.E. Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, received H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, in the New Zealand capital, Wellington.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics related to the importance of dialogue and fostering the best forms of coexistence within nationally diverse societies, as well as building bridges of understanding and cooperation among nations and peoples to confront notions of a clash of civilizations and the practices of hatred, polarization, and exclusion. H.E. also commended New Zealand’s distinguished national model of coexistence.
