The Muslim World League Condemns the Attack on the French Battalion of UNIFIL in Southern Lebanon

Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned the attack targeting the French battalion of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon.
In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, denounced the attack on UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.
His Excellency reaffirmed the League’s firm rejection of targeting UN organizations and their missions, as part of its principled stance against all forms of violence and terrorism. He underscored the seriousness of the attack, noting that it targeted UN peacekeepers and restricted their freedom of movement, in violation of relevant UN resolutions—particularly the provisions of international humanitarian law that protect those not participating in hostilities, including UN personnel. He further stressed that the attack breached international obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN staff.
His Excellency extended his condolences to the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
