The Muslim World League assumes the responsibility of identifying, highlighting, and advancing shared Islamic values in order to strengthen their unity and foster greater solidarity.
This commitment has been reflected through a range of impactful initiatives and programs, most notably the proposal put forward by the MWL’s scholars during the Inaugural Conference for Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects to publish the Encyclopedia of Islamic Intellectual Consensus. The encyclopedia, spanning approximately 1,800 pages, was authored through the collective efforts of 60 Islamic scholars and thinkers representing diverse Islamic schools of thought and traditions. It stands as a landmark contribution to promoting the values of brotherhood and cooperation among Islamic schools and traditions, particularly in confronting ideas of conflict and division fueled by extremism and sectarianism.
The encyclopedia also seeks to provide a constructive foundation for strengthening dialogue among Islamic schools and traditions and building bridges based on their shared principles, while encouraging the exchange of knowledge, scholarly reasoning, and sincere counsel in accordance with the noble ethics and profound wisdom of Islam.
The work was compiled by the Center for Safeguarding Intellect in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—may Allah reward those responsible for their efforts—and was supervised by a distinguished group of leading scholars from across the Muslim world, foremost among them senior scholars of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and members of the Islamic Fiqh Council.
