The MWL Secretary-General Meets President of the Belgian House of Representatives

H.E. Mr. Peter De Roover, President of the Belgian House of Representatives, received H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, at the Belgian Federal Parliament in Brussels.
The two sides held talks on a range of issues related to strengthening effective dialogue across its various tracks as a key peaceful instrument for addressing international crises that transcend borders. They underscored the importance of the “preventive religious diplomacy” pursued by the MWL, as well as the influential role of diverse religious institutions around the world in helping defuse conflicts before they erupt, particularly those associated with notions of hatred and civilizational conflict. This includes fostering early awareness that difference and diversity are an inevitable part of human existence and should be approached through dialogue, mutual understanding, and joint action based on shared values that advance peace in our world and harmony within our societies, while respecting everyone’s right to live in dignity.
During the meeting, the President of the House expressed his deep appreciation for Dr. Al-Issa’s efforts and international engagement on behalf of the Muslim World League and the Organization of Muslim Scholars. In this context, he commended the MWL’s leading role in promoting mutual understanding and respect, thereby advancing peaceful coexistence and building trust among communities. He described this engagement as a living example of positive international pluralism and “preventive diplomacy.”
The President of the House also praised the practical nature of Dr. Al-Issa’s efforts and international engagement on behalf of the MWL, stressing that this institutional outreach goes beyond theoretical frameworks to meaningful engagement with diverse leaders and communities around the world. He noted that the MWL’s role thus provides a practical model for contributing to peacebuilding and promoting the values of coexistence, tolerance, and social cohesion.
